An Update

So now it really is almost Christmas- exciting, but not as exciting as a sale popping up fresh on my (well Dan's) computer- mine is, surprise surprise, nearly dead again. Honestly, every single morning I can't get to the computer fast enough, and throughout the day even... well it's turning into an addiction. Knowing that those orders will then be the property of someone else, to send to their friends or families, or even frame up around their house, is so very exciting to me.

Dan asked me yesterday what my New Year's resolutions are, and I panicked a bit. I hadn't really thought about it yet, and I don't want to take on something too hard, or not hard enough. I want to push myself, yet feel confident that I can do it- otherwise they'll be down the drain like resolutions are known for. Although, I must say- I was proud of keeping last year's- which was to improve on correspondence.

I thought that maybe I should focusing on following some of the advice from my own cards? Something like Danny Kaye says, "Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on you can," from our Life is Beautiful collection (View/order here: http://emmybooriginals.web.officelive.com/life.aspx ) I like that- and I'll take it, but I wanted something more concrete too. So I decided on- learn to separate your personal life from your EmmyBo Originals life.
What are your resolutions, any good suggestions out there?

Creased Cards

I feel like it's Christmas morning already! I woke up before the sun, and have been buzzing around ever since. We knew that the cards might be ready today, and Dan just got a message from Ray (our printer) confirming that they're "being creased, and will be ready by the end of the day," eek! To distract myself until we can actually pick them up, I've spent the morning perusing different stories from etsy.com (a wonderful online site where you can buy and sell handmade items). I've come across an edenesque blog dedicated to lovely people who have "quit their day jobs" (http://www.etsy.com/storque/search/tags/quit-your-day-job) to sell their work full-time. I've always imagined an art-focused life to be my ideal one. I've been a bit skeptical...but I'm starting to think it's not so far off. I'm off to work on a new collage!

Why "from the floor"?

I'm certain that I'll end up writing all of my posts from the same spot- it's the place where I always end up crafting and creating my EmmyBo Original cards: http://www.emmybooriginals.co.uk/the -the floor in our lounge (British for "living room"). This isn't a new thing. I've always enjoyed working on the floor more than at a table. Perhaps "on" allows for more than "at"... the floor becomes my base, whether littered with cut-out images, or newly cleared, I find it safe and inspiring. Sat on the floor, unintimidated by the abyss before me, my creative mind and soul open up.
